Now in their third season, for SS09 the Felder twins establish key signatures and embark on a more refined silhouette, defining their development as key London designers.

As inspiration, Felder Felder looked to German artist Lucas Cranach, in-particular his chiffon draped nude paintings where the subject wears jewelled neck pieces. The designers interpreted this into their style creating an altogether lighter collection, both in colour and fabric. Music remains a strong influence for Felder Felder and with the spring summer collection - an image of ‘Anita Pallenberg hanging with the Rolling Stones’ came to mind throughout the design process. This rock chick vibe is contradicted within the collection with an altogether softer and more romantic theme, creating a modern twist.

A conscious decision was made to move away from the dark, gothic colour palette that Felder Felder have become associated with and create a collection which was lighter and effortless in feel. Silhouettes are simple but feminine with a sexy edge.  Shift dresses iskim the body in silk or crepe and viscose jersey emphasing curves in pretyy and subtle colour palette. Volume comes from delicate ruffles, cut on the curve and in tonal colours which add depth and shape. The light and elegant pieces are combined or trimmed with Felder Felder’s signature leather, emphasising the rock chic versus feminine feeling. Leather comes in delicate shades such as cream and nude and is set against fine silk chiffon and satin in simple shapes.

The collection focuses on updating and re-interpreting processes that Felder Felder have become renowned for. Metal studded leather is reworked and refined so that the leather looks embellished and metal studs are used like embroidery creating a glistening, sequinned effect. Silver leather and an unusual metallic python skin are used as fringes and trims and are covered with a sheer, powder colour silk chiffon, diffusing and softening the fabric’s contrasting qualities. Colours are light and gentle including nude, taupe, grey and a powdery cream. Colour splashes include turquoise and flamingo red, adding freshness and depth to the collection. Accessories create more of a statement with hand crafted leather moulded bracelets and bangles.
